Emergency starter Tyler Cloyd impressed many with six perfect innings pitched with eight strikouts. Phillippe Aumont, Mike Schwimer and Jake Diekman all had scoreless innings. In fact, the only hit of the night came off of an outfield mistake that could have counted as an error.
Double-A: Reading 4, Portland 2 (f/9); Reading 7, Portland 4 (f/7)
Baby Ace Jon Pettibone threw six innings, allowing ten hits and a run in game one. Sebastian Valle had a solo homerun in his Eastern League debut, and both Jiwan James and Tyson Gillies went hitless.
Hi-A: Dunedin 6, Clearwater 3.
A rehabbing Jose Contreras made the start, gave up three runs on two hits and was pulled after just a third of an inning. Cody Asche hit and Jim Murphy hit doubles, with the latter driving in two RBIs.
Single-A: Greenvile 4, Lakewood 2
Gauntlett Eldemire, Brian Pointer, Kelly Dugan and Tyler Greene all had a hit (Dugan had two). Mikael Franco started at third, batted cleanup and went 0-4 with a pair of strikeouts. 19 year old Lino Martinez pitched 5.2 innings, giving up one run on six hits with four punchouts.
