Sorry, I (Bryan) have been in Tennessee since last week. I’m back now.
Triple-A: IronPigs 3, Rochester 1
Phillippe Aumont gained his fourth save with a two inning, four strikeout no hit performance. Dom Brown went 2-4 with a double and an RBI, Kevin Frandsen continues his slump (1-3 today, .161 on the year), Derrick Mitchell went 0-4 and Cody Overbeck went 2-4 with an RBI. (side note: Matt Rizzotti, now playing for Rochester, had their lone RBI).
Double-A: Reading 9, Harrisburg 3
Jon Pettibone got the win after a 5.2 inning, two run (eight hit) performance. He struck out three and walked two. Justin Friend had a nice inning in relief. Cesar Hernandez went 2-4 with a triple, double and 3 RBIs, Tyson Gillies went 1-4 with a double. Darin Ruf pinch hit with a double, and stole third (the sixth of his career).
Hi-A: Tampa 6, Clearwater 1
Perci Garner threw five innings, allowed one run on three hits but walked five. The Threshers didn’t fare well against the rehabbing Andy Pettitte, who threw four and allowed only two hits. Edgar Duran had the only RBI, Cody Asche improved to .303 on the year with a 3-4 night that included a double. Peter Lavin went 0-4 but is still hitting .333 in 10 games, Cam Rupp also went 0-3.
Single-A: Lakewood 7, Hagerstown 4
Lino Martinez had another mediocre start, allowing five hits and three runs in six innings while picking up the win. He’s only 19 and his ERA thus far is 3.78 playing A level above his age (me gusta). Brian Pointer went 1-4 and scored, bringing his batting average to .333 on the year. Kyrell Hudson continues to struggle, and his average is at .152 after a 1-4 day that included an RBI. On a brighter note, Maikel Franco jumped over .300 (now at .302) with a 2-3 performance. Logan Moore had two doubles and three RBIs, Aaron Altherr stole another base (his fifth). Ryan Duke earned his third save with a perfect, two K inning.
