A little something to take your mind off of how awful the Phillies are. No jump today as only two games took place

Triple-A: Buffalo 5, IronPigs 1

New addition Mike Fortenot had a double, Cody Overbeck had the lone RBI. The PigPen did alright, except Phillippe Aumont shaky, 39 pitch 1.1 innings of work that included two walks and a wild pitch. Dom Brown went 1-4, his average on the year is .262.

Hi-A: Clearwater 8, Brevard 7 (f/12)

What a game offensively! Anthony Hewitt had a three run homerun, his first of the year, Edgar Duran contributed two RBIs on a second inning triple, his only hit of the game. Jim Murphy brought in Peter Lavin on a single in the bottom of the twelfth for the walkoff win. Perci Garner started for the Threshers, going 3.2 and allowing four runs (three earned) on four hits and three walks.

Triple-A: IronPigs 8, Buffalo 4

Cody Overbeck went 4-5 with two doubles and an RBI, he scored twice. Dom Brown had the night off, Scott Podsednik (who is currently being scouted by the Red Sox) went 2-3 with two RBIs. Scott Elarton had another great start, five innings w/no runs and five hits. His ERA this year is 0.56. Michael Schwimer gave up a run on a homer in an inning and a third, Phillippe Aumont gave up two runs in just a third of an inning of work, while Joe Savery pitched well to earn the save (1.1 innings, 1 hit). JUMP FOR THE REST

Triple-A: Buffalo 4, IronPigs 1

Only four hits for the club today, so not much to talk about offensively. Kevin Frandsen, Scott Podsednik, Rich Thompson and Andres Blanco (none of whom are prospects) were the only batters to reach base. Jeremy Horst and Jake Diekman did well out of the bullpen, though, each pitching an inning (Horst allowed a hit and a walk, Diekman struck out the side).

Double-A: Richmond 2, Reading 1

A little less offense today for the club that drove in 19 yesterday, David Buchanan started and was saddled with the loss after giving up two runs, a two-run homerun and five other hits, and a walk. He struck out four. Tyson Gillies was 1-4 with two Ks, but did hit a double, as did Cesar Hernandez, who was also 1-4. Darin Ruf was 0-4 but did drive Gillies in for the R-Phils’ only run. Leandro Castro was 0-4 today, and Jiwan James got the day off.

Single-A: Greensboro 9, Lakewood 1

The ‘Claws got spanked today, ruining a decent start by Ethan Stewart. He pitched five scoreless, walking four but striking out four as well. Ryan Sasaki and Colton Murray gave up all nine runs (four and five respectively). Steal happy Aaron Altherr swiped his sixth base, gaining an RBI on a 2-4 night. Brian Pointer went 1-3 with a double and a walk, and both Kelly Dugan and Tyler Greene had one hit. Greene also made his third error of the season, but still threw a man out at home on the play.

Oh and the Threshers were off Today.

Triple-A: Buffalo 4, IronPigs 1

Joe Savery made his first appearance since getting sent down, he pitched the 8th inning and gave up an unearned run (DOM BROWN ERROR), as well as one hit while striking out two. Mike Schwimer also had a some relief time, an inning and a third, perfect with two Ks. Derrick Mitchell and Dom Brown both struggled (1-4 and 0-4, respectively), while Cody Overbeck had an RBI sac fly.

Double-A: Reading 19 (yes, 19), Richmond 6

wow, if only the Philadelphia Phillies could produce like this. Leandro Castro had six RBIs on a 3-5 night that featured two doubles. Cesar Hernandez went 5-6 and scored every time he got on. Darin Ruf had his first homer of the year and a double on a 5-5 night, Tyson Gillies went 2-6 with two runs scored and a RBI, Valle went 3-5 with three RBIs, a double, three RBIs and a walk (shock!). Every one of the starting eight position players had at least one RBI, including the hitless Troy Hanzawa (only one of starters to not get a hit). Oh and Trevor May got his third win on a five inning, one run performance. He had seven strikeouts and allowed just four hits and two walks (at the dish he went 2-3 himself). JC Ramirez was tagged for five runs in two innings of relief.

Hi-A: Tampa 2, Clearwater 1

Brody Colvin finally pitched well! Six scoreless with just two hits allowed and six punchouts. Cody Asche went 1-4 (I highlight him every night because he skipped a level this season, so he’s kind of a big deal), Peter Lavin improved to a .340 average with a 2-5 night (same situation as Asche). D’Arby Myers improved to .360 on the year with a 2-4 night, but he’s been talked about since 2006 so people are sort of tired on him. Lisalverto Bonilla blew the save in the ninth to end the game.

Single-A: Greensboro 4, Lakewood 3

Mike Nesseth struggled in another start, giving up three runs (two earned) on two hits and five walks in just two innings. Brian Pointer hit a triple, his second of the year, and drove in a pair of RBIs. Maikel Franco went 0-4, Aaron Altherr went 1-3 but was caught stealing.
